"To organize the icons of daily life"
This series of mixed media works explores my desire to organize and simplify the many elements of my daily life. Lately I have had this great urge to reduce life to a state of unity and ease, I want to live closer to my job, to be a part of the same community I teach in, meld my family and art; basically let all the separate components of daily living coalesce.
The wall relief artworks consist of various squares, rectangles and defined spaces; many contain symbols and icons pulled from my sketches and daily life. These basic images or signposts offer the viewer an opportunity to either bring their own array of meaning or attempt to decipher my softhearted hieroglyphics.
